RESUMO
Este trabalho constitui um levantamento das artes e métodos de pesca utilizados no rio Guadiana, pelos pescadores portugueses, assim como dos portos de pesca nacionais frequentados pelas embarcações da pesca artesanal local.

São caracterizados os portos, indicado o número de pescadores profissionais a operar no rio, o número de embarcações licenciadas pela Direcção-Geral das Pescas e Aquicultura em 1998, descritas sumariamente as artes de pesca usadas no rio e apresentados os respectivos planos técnicos.

ABSTRACT
The present study characterises the fishing methods and gears used by the Portuguese fishermen in the river Guadiana, including the fishing ports used by the local artisanal fishery.

Characteristics include type of ports, the number of fishermen, the number of vessels licensed by the "Direcção-Geral das Pescas e Aquicultura" (Fishing Authority) in 1998, a general description of the fishing gears and their respective technical details.
