RESUMO
Este trabalho constitui um levantamento das artes e métodos de pesca utilizados no rio Minho, pelos pescadores portugueses, assim como dos portos de pesca da margem esquerda, frequentados pelas embarcações da pesca artesanal local.

São caracterizados os portos, indicado o número de pescadores inscritos na Capitania do Porto de Caminha em 1995 e de embarcações a operar em 1997, descritas sumariamente as artes de pesca usadas no rio e apresentados os respectivos planos técnicos.

ABSTRACT
The present study characterises the fishing methods and gears used by the Portuguese fishermen in the river Minho, inc1uding the fishing ports used by the local artisanal fishery on the left bank of the river.

Characteristics inc1ude type of ports, the number of fishermen registered in 1995 at the "Capitania do Porto de Caminha" (Authority), the number of vessels operating in 1997, a general description of the fishing gears and their respective technical details.
